The Basel Liver Biobank is a research infrastructure at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Basel and University Hospital Basel. We collect and store liver biopsy samples and blood, together with associated clinical data, to support high-quality translational and clinical research in hepatology.

Our biobank provides researchers with access to well-characterized liver tissue samples, including FFPE and snap frozen biopsies, as well as whole blood, plasma and serum, and RNA and DNA extracted from biopsies and blood — all linked to longitudinal clinical data.
